    • Refractivisation of Cataract Surgery
    • Setting visual expectations and consenting patients for cataract surgery
    • Maximising the ocular surface for biometry and pre cataract surgery
    • Biometry, case selection and IOL choices
    • Considerations in choosing biometry instruments for your practice
    • Aberrations and intraocular lens selection +Toric IOLs - how to evaluate your outcome

    Learning Outcomes

      • Select and apply appropriate IOL power calculation formula individualised to the patient’s biometry and intraocular lens
      • Modify formulae and IOL choice for patients who have had refractive surgery or patients needing toric or multifocal lenses
      • Discuss the limitations of current IOLs and limited predictability of IOL selection
      • Be familiar with options available for managing unexpected refractive outcomes post IOL implantation
      • Calculate a personalised A constant and SIA on patients
      • Be aware of conditions that may limit effectiveness of IOLs designed to ameliorate presbyopic symptoms
      • Manage tear film issues to improve biometry accuracy and patient cataract outcomes

      Course delivery method

      6 prerecorded lectures released weekly accessible online.
      3 online “live” Zoom sessions from 6:30pm on Wednesday 12th August, 26th August and 8th September.
      Q and A via online discussion boards

      Additional Information

      There are two requirements for successful completion of the course:
      1. Participation in 4 out of the 6 weekly discussion boards. This can range from asking a question about that week's lecture topic to sharing some insights with other participants or discussing a paper you read on the topic.
      2. Presentation of a case relevant to the course topic at one of the live tutorials.
