Metabolic-Associated Fatty Liver Disease and Type 2 Diabetes: Specialists Education Course

Metabolic-Dysfunction Associated Fatty Liver Disease (MAFLD)

Confidently diagnose and manage MAFLD in T2DM patients

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a rapidly growing health concern globally and in Australia. Strongly linked with type 2 diabetes and cardiometabolic conditions, it presents a complex challenge for specialists managing metabolic disease.

Why enrol

Despite its prevalence, MAFLD remains underdiagnosed and inconsistently managed in specialist practice. This course addresses key clinical gaps by providing practical, evidence-based strategies to improve detection, risk stratification and management in patients with type 2 diabetes.

What you'll learn

Through case-based learning, participants will develop skills in identifying high-risk individuals, assessing fibrosis risk, and implementing systematic management approaches aligned with current guidelines.

Course highlights

  • Self-paced, flexible learning format
  • Case-based clinical scenarios
  • Evidence-based guidance and resources
  • Short, focused modules designed for specialists
  • Immediate application to clinical practice

Who should attend

This course is designed for endocrinologists and physicians with an interest in metabolic disease who are involved in the management of patients with type 2 diabetes.

Strengthen your clinical approach to MAFLD and improve patient outcomes through this targeted, specialist-level education.

Topics

  • MAFLD overview and epidemiology
  • MAFLD in type 2 diabetes
  • Screening and diagnosis
  • Risk stratification and fibrosis assessment
  • Clinical management approaches
  • Monitoring and long-term care
  • Referral pathways to hepatology

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify individuals at high risk of MAFLD
  • Assess risk of advanced liver fibrosis
  • Apply systematic approaches to metabolic optimisation
