Phil Austin

Phil Austin is a postdoctoral research fellow at HammondCare where he conducts research at the department of palliative care for pain at Greenwich Hospital. Phil has an honorary position in the Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation (IMPACCT) Research Centre at the University of Technology Sydney where he is involved in collaborative research to optimise health and wellbeing in people living with chronic and progressive illness. Phil is also an expert module tutor on Visceral Pain for the Masters of Medicine/Science in Medicine (Pain Management) postgraduate degree at the University of Sydney. Phil’s main research areas of interest are the measurement of endogenous pain modulation and relief of persistent pain in both cancer and non-cancer pain settings, where he is investigating the analgesic effects of virtual reality in various clinical settings.
