Clinical Teacher Training Program
The Clinical Teacher Training (CTT) program.

The Clinical Teacher Training (CTT) program is a modular program, designed to provide health professionals with opportunities to develop skills in teaching, assessment and feedback. Participants are provided with theoretical background and opportunities to apply new knowledge and concepts through practical and small-group activities.

This course is free and only available to health professionals currently teaching University of Sydney students. To apply please click here

It will run between 29th July 2024 and 23rd August 2024 with a mandatory 2-hour live Zoom session with Professor Annette Burgess on 13th August, 2024 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

  • Introduction to the CTT program.
  • Feedback in the clinical setting.
  • Planning, preparing and structuring a teaching session.
  • Facilitating small group learning in the health professions.
  • Key tips for teaching & assessment in the clinical setting.
  • Tips for teaching procedural skills.
  • Teaching effective clinical handover.
  • Team-based learning: design & facilitation.
  • Case Based Learning (CBL).
  • Mentorship.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop the teaching and assessment skills required for health professionals to participate in teaching programs.
  • Develop the skills required of health professionals to provide effective feedback to students, peers and colleagues.
  • Assist health professionals to recognise opportunities for teaching and learning within clinical settings, and contribute to the knowledge and skills development of others.
  • Provide and encourage opportunities for interprofessional learning and team collaboration that can be applied to professional practice.
  • Explore the goals of mentorship, and the key elements of effective mentoring.

Course Delivery Method

This course will be delivered online, with a focus on self-paced learning and activities.

It will run between 29th July 2024 and 23rd August 2024.

Expect to commit around 3 hours weekly, plus attend a mandatory 2-hour live Zoom session with Professor Annette Burgess on 13th August, 2024 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

 

 

Course Pre-requisites

We welcome participation from health professionals teaching University of Sydney students.
