Surgical training offers the opportunity to expand your skills, however, getting a head start on the basic skills and knowledge required for training can be difficult. The Surgical Skills workshop offers you the chance to get a head start on training with a 2-day workshop covering practical skills required including communication and training discussions.

 

Communications Workshop (Day 1) Nov 1

Morning: Surgical Communications skills with Dr Renee Lim
  • How to deal with conflict and bullying
  • Breaking bad news

Afternoon Surgical Discussions with Dr Anthony Glover
  • Definition of a Surgeon: What are the core competencies of a surgeon?
  • Case scenarios encountered during training: Facilitated through small group discussions
  • Career planning
  • Group discussion

Skills Workshop (Day 2) Nov 2

  • Instrument handling, knot tying
  • Suturing and excision of skin lesions
  • Laparoscopic surgery
  • Bowel and vascular anastomosis
